Richard Liu

Assistant Professor of Physics
Northeastern University · Burlington, Massachusetts

Richard Liu received his PhD in Physics from Harvard University, where he studied topological and strongly correlated materials using scanning tunneling microscopy. He develops machine-learning-based experimental workflows for scanning probe microscopy and quantum materials research.

At Northeastern, he joins the Quantum Materials and Sensing Institute. The lab’s planned research connects automated atomic fabrication, AI-automated characterization, and closed-loop materials discovery.
